Generally, all images and graphics link to other pages. Alternatively, you can reach the same pages via the text links that appear at the bottom of each page.
Our web pages include image maps and take advantage of client-side image-map support if it is present in your browser. If clicking on images or buttons does not take you where you want to go, use the text links at the bottom of each page.
We did our best to provide a high-quality viewing experience regardless of the type of Web browser you use., but your browser's configuration may interfere with our intentions. Here are a few suggestions for things to check.
The most common reason for this problem is an optional setting in your browser software to suppress images and perhaps other types of multimedia data when displaying a page. Some browsers display a small graphics icon, in lieu of each picture. Try clicking these icons to call up each image. Other browsers have a menu command to "Show Images" on the current page. Or you may turn an option on in your browser's multimedia preferences to automatically "Show Pictures."
We apologize to all users of text-based browsers, who may find it
difficult to enjoy our gallery. You may be able to download the image
files and view them with separate GIF and JPEG viewer programs, if
you have those capabilities.
Permission is explicitly granted to make a temporary
copy of the file for the sole purpose of personal, non-commercial
viewing on a computer screen. By downloading a file you implicitly
agree to erase it within 24 hours, not to distribute it or make
copies of it in any form, not to print out or transfer the image to
any other media, and not to use it as a basis for any derivative
work.
For the black & white photographs, a good greyscale monitor supporting 256 shades of grey (8 bits) will give highest picture quality. A high-quality color display also should work very well if it supports millions of colors (24 bits) or if you can set it to display 256 shades of grey). For the color images, a 24-bit color display is best. Other display configurations will reduce image quality to varying degrees.
We use two image formats:
Most modern graphics-based Web browsers support these formats natively. Some older browsers may require installation and configuration of special viewer plug-ins or helper applications for these formats.
We optimized image resolution to keep file sizes relatively small. To provide a quality approaching that of the original fine-art prints on silver-gelatin paper would have required huge files.
We tried to keep our HTML source code as simple as possible. To assure good compatibility with a wide range of browsers, we do not use tables or frames and only few extensions beyond the HTML 2.0 standard.
We would appreciate your feedback if the above information is insufficient to resolve your problems viewing our gallery or if you find mistakes that we need to correct.
